Echo Of The Olympian Hiawatha
Title:  Echo Of The Olympian Hiawatha
Description:  The "Cedar Rapids" brings up the rear on the Fall Colors train to Glencoe as the train crosses Eden Prairie Road. You know, I once daydreamed about "The Olympian Hiawatha" traveling on this, the Milwaukee Road's route to the Pacific Coast. The "Olympian Hi's" skytop obs featured in this daydream. While the "Cedar Rapids" is not a sleeper Skytop obs, it still was great to see a Skytop on this portion of the old Milwaukee Road.

Steam In The Snow, 2017
Title:  Steam In The Snow, 2017
Description:  "There's nothing like steam in the snow," Jim Boyd noted in his book about Steamtown. The 261 has steamed in the snow at Steamtown National Historic Site and now, for the fourth year running, at St. Paul Union Depot. Here the crew is bringing the 1 P.M. train to the North Pole into its destination on the east side of SPUD. Dig that steam show! You rock, 261!

Title:  Heading For Old St. Nick's Place

"MILW 261 West" At Powers Blvd
Title:  "MILW 261 West" At Powers Blvd
Description:  "Milw 261 West" crosses Powers Blvd in grand style on a sunny, cool, and breezy Saturday afternoon on the second weekend in September. Many patrons were enjoying good eats on this trip, because the excursions run this weekend were dubbed the "Gourmet Express" due to the food-oriented nature of the trip. The track warrant was nevertheless issued to "MILW 261 West" when the Gourmet Express was at Tower E-14 in Minnetonka, the beginning of Twin Cities & Western-owned track.

Description:  Here comes Steve and the 261 crew with their 1944-vintage Alco, about to bring their train off the old Minneapolis & St. Louis and onto the old Milwaukee Road down east of Beltline Boulevard. Note how while the lady at right is appreciating the 261, the dude jogging across the tracks reminds me of a comment David P. Title:  Away From The Madding Crowd
Description:  Why was I so far back for this shot? Well, for one thing, a good friend of mine who was present told me 4014 was a huge engine, so I needed to be back enough to get all of her in the frame.
