Rolling By Where There Were Many Tracks Once Upon A Time |
Description: |
The returning St. Paul Turn lesuirely rolls along at 10 MPH past where, on the left, was once solid tracks in the M&ST.L's Kenwood yard. Today a trail is what occupies most of the site save for a sole surviving mainline track. Making for easy railfanning on public property once privately owned by the Louie and, later, the Chicago and North Western. Interesting to relate: When the Minnesota Valley Railway once interchanged with the Soo and the CNW in this area, their motive power laid over on a now-gone siding in this location awaiting the arrival of the CNW with their portion of the interchange. Shame that short line is now gone. Would loved to have seen that. |
