It is interesting how a major power line is routed down the MN&S Spur for most of the stretch of track through SLP. Here the northbound CP/Soo local passes by them with one car of interchange from Progressive Rail in Bloomington. Dig how the Soo Line's own "4449" is still wearing Soo livery at this late date! Note my own "motive power" at the far right background. |

The northbound CP/Soo local tip toes along the jointed rail of the MN&S Spur as it passes Brunswick Avenue on its trip north to Humbolt Yard in Minneapolis with a lone loaded gondola the sole northbound interchange from Progressive Rail this day. I tried catching it once more up in Golden Valley, but by then the train had given me the slip. |

We are just south of Excelsior Boulevard on the Canadian Pacific Soo Line MN&S Spur (the former main line of the Minneapolis, Northfield, and Southern railroad), a place I've always wanted to photograph a train at. Lo and behold: by pure luck I finally got to do that! Here comes the northbound CP local which serves Nesbit Siding in Bloomington where CP interchanges with Progessive Rail, operator of the former MN&S "High Line." Today only one loaded gondola is making the return trip to Humbolt Yard. |
