Long Line Of Iron Horses
Title:  Long Line Of Iron Horses
Description:  Northtown's southeast end is always a good place to find stored units. This year is no exception. Just look at all those stored iron horses awaiting their next call to duty.

Five Of The Six
Title:  Five Of The Six
Description:  This is a shot of five of the six units on an eastbound general manifest freight I bagged this day. I wish I could have gotten the number for that ex-BN unit you see at the bottom left corner.

There They Go
Title:  There They Go
Description:  There goes a six-unit lashup on the head end of an eastbound general freight. Most, if not all, of these units are coming into the Twin Cities from the BNSF yard at Willmar. I wish I was able to ID all six of these units. The best I can guess is that the ex-BN unit you see is a GP-something still in virtually intact BN paint.

Big Lashup On The Move
Title:  Big Lashup On The Move
Description:  No less than six units (of which I got the road numbers for five) is on the point of this eastbound general freight. Incidentally, this train was briefly stopped by the dispatcher before the crew was cleared to proceed east. The hogger was getting a wheel back into the train when I snapped this picture.

Hefty Yard Power
Title:  Hefty Yard Power
Description:  I was surprised to find these two SD75Ms parked where the BNSF Midway Yard power normally can be found. I presume these babies are the yard crew's power?

A Shared Catch
Title:  A Shared Catch
Description:  Me and fellow railfan Brandon Smith caught this westbound general freight as it stormed through Long Lake this evening. Many thanks to Brandon for telling me what the road number of the third unit was (an easy to remember one, at that, thanks to a certain steam engine we both like :-) ).

Warbonnets Under Brown Road
Title:  Warbonnets Under Brown Road
Description:  Wonder if the driver headed the opposite way on the Highway 12 bypass knows that paint scheme dates back to the 1930s?

Caliente, CA, Or Long Lake, MN?
Title:  Caliente, CA, Or Long Lake, MN?
Description:  If it weren't for the BNSF numbers, this freight would look right at home at Caliente in the Golden State en route to the "loop" at Tehachapi, rather than charging for Willmar on the Wayzata sub in Gopher Land.

Passing The Signal
Title:  Passing The Signal
Description:  My second catch of 2010 passes the westward-facing signals as this westbound freight races through the outer Minneapolis suburbs early on a Good Friday's evening.

Out of the sun
Title:  Out of the sun
Description:  Hot on the heels of a westbound manifest that had rolled through about ten minutes before came another mixed manifest out of the sun. The hogger had a pair of SD70s for power.

Under the Tour de Tonka route
Title:  Under the Tour de Tonka route
Description:  Brown Road is just any other most days; today it is a route on the Tour de Tonka bicycle ride. They bulk of the riders had yet to start crossing, however, when this westbound mixed manifest rolled underneath.

Impressive Lashup
Title:  Impressive Lashup
Description:  Now this lashups puts the "power" in "horsepower"! This eastbound freight is mostly pulled onto the siding but the crew seemed to be having trouble with the consist. For when I grabbed this and several other shots the tail end of the train was still out on the main track up in Long Lake. The Luce Line trail bridge over the BNSF/Highway 12 bypass corrior is in the distance.

Wow!
Title:  Wow!
Description:  A massive ammount of major horsepower -six units!- waits on the siding next to the Highway 12 bypass. For some reason, a third of the train was still hanging out on the main track up at the "West Wayzata" end of the Wayzata-Orono-Long Lake siding on the Wayzata sub.
