The Twin Cities Rapid Transit streetcar line to Excelsior was double-tracked and crossed above the Minneapolis and St. Louis where the current bridge stands in the background. From the end of streetcar service in 1932 to 2001 the original bridge that used to bear the weight of trolleys like the 1239 carried automobile traffic until, alas, it was replaced. |

The 1239 no doubt once traveled the original streetcar rails to Lake Minnetonka between 1906-1932, when trolleys gave way to buses beyond Hopkins, MN. |
