Former Would-Be Merger Partners |
Description: |
A CP and NS unit are the motive power on an eastbound freight whose crew had paused in the middle of sorting out their cars into Humboldt down at the yard's eastern end. This portrait also captures how CP and NS were would-be merger partners this time last year. Thank God that merger did not come to pass. |

Charging For Wayzata |
Description: |
Away goes this Norfolk Southern trio. Racing for the Luce Line trail bridge and the Wayzata/Long Lake border. Behind the NS 2591 are a pair of plaine-jane NS SD70s. On days like these you'd think you were east of Chicago on the old Conrail lines rather than in the Gopher State, which is just fine by this railfan. Why go to the railroad when the railroad can come to you, hey? |

Norfolk Southern Thunder! |
Description: |
The sound of crickets and frogs anticipating the potential for rain and the noise of traffic on the Highway 12 bypass is suddenly shattered in dramatic fashion by this train on a gorgeous summer-like April afternoon. The crew of this eastbound mixed freight have themselves a trio of NS units for power with SD70M 2591 as the lead unit. Here they are splitting the signals in Long Lake as they race for Wayzata. |

An eastbound BNSF grain train with a mix of Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific units for power departs Long Lake on a rainy evening after being briefly stopped in town. Picture was taken from my apartment. |

Apartment Railfanning |
Description: |
I live pretty close to the BNSF Wayzata Sub, and I finally discovered how decent a vantage point my apartment can make. And so, early on a rainy evening in early May, I bagged this departing eastbound grain train which had an interesting mix of motive power at the crew's disposal. |
