Almost There
Title:  Almost There
Description:  DSR hums towards the Water Street end of the Excelsior Streetcar Line. The parking lot in the foreground used to belong to a small officer building on Morse Avenue. Cars now park for the same building at a new one off to the left, leaving some "street" for the ESL to pass through!

On Some Street!
Title:  On Some Street!
Description:  The office building to the left put its parking lot right on the right of way of the CNW ex-M&ST.L. Morton sub after abandonment. Cars now park in the new lot to the right, leaving some "street" for ESL's treasures to traverse. Today Duluth Street Railways 78 does so as the crew takes their latest passengers up the line for a carbarn tour and then on to the Excelsior Blvd end and back to Water Street.

Old Streetcar On The New
Title:  Old Streetcar On The New
Description:  Once the Twin Cities Rapid Transit passed over the Minneapolise & St. Louis at this location. Now DSR 78 plies the trolley rails that took over where once steamers, Alcos, and later geeps rumbled as the motorman gives a teenage couple a friendly wave.

Look Before You Cross
Title:  Look Before You Cross
Description:  Despite the RR crossing signs on Morse Avenue, crews on the Excelsior Streetcar Line always bring the car to a stop and see if the coast is clear before the appropriate bell signals are given and the car goes on its way. Here's Duluth Street Railways 78 stopped for the procedure.

Tour Stop
Title:  Tour Stop
Description:  While one passenger choses to skip it, DSR sits otherwise empty as the crew shows the rest of their fares around inside the ESL carbarn. According to the book "The Como-Harriet Story", DSR 78 is more a replication than a restoration because only half the original wood was re-used during the rebuild and the power truck is from Belguim. Nevertheless, she returned to her former glory and plied the Como-Harriet line until arriving at Excelsior in 1999.

Reboard Time
Title:  Reboard Time
Description:  Tour over, the first passenger out the carbarn door nimbly climbs up the steps on DSR 78. Soon the whole flock will be here and reinforced by a couple moms and a gaggle of kids coming down the trail behind me giving the ESL crew more fares and funds for the day's work.

Description:  A replica sign of a vintage advertisement for the Northern Pacific's Lake Superior Limited can be found aboard Duluth Street Railway 78. I wish I could take that train. (Sigh,)

A Streetcar Stopped Just For Me
Title:  A Streetcar Stopped Just For Me
Description:  When I droppped by the Excelsior Streetcar Line on a gorgeous Saturday during Memorial Day weekend, I lucked out big time: I got to take a ride on Duluth 265 as the only passenger! I guess you could say a streetcar stopped just for me. :-) Former Minneapolis & St. Louis depot, now a museum, is in the left background.

Back At Water Street
Title:  Back At Water Street
Description:  Sure was nice to be the solo rider on a streetcar this run. Now back at Water Street, 265 is getting a flock of passengers while volunteer Jim V. makes notes in the car's passenger record. The pavers you see right behind the 265 are from Water Street, back in the glory days when streetcars from Twin Cities Rapid Transit rolled down that thuroughfare.
