An A-B Genesis Lashup |
Description: |
Tucked in between the 261's canteen car and the passenger consist is this A-B set of Amtrak Genesis units. While everyone was gawking the 261, I made some time for them too. Incidentally enough, Amtrak units were once served at the roundhouse that used to stand here at Minneapolis Junction. |

Just Like Out Of That Book |

When L was a kid, I cherished a picture book entitled "A Celebration Of Steam." There is a photo of the 4449 in it quite like the one I took here as she prepared to pass under the Central/Broadway intersection overpass and arrive in style at Minneapolis Junction. |

Greeting The Fans |
Description: |
One of the crew in the cab of Milwaukee Road 261 greets a pair of railfans as the fall colors run to Boylston, Wisconsin rolls through Fridley. This dude gave me a friendly wave back when I waved my engineer cap in greeting as they passed my location. Amtrak 184 is my second Amtrak Heritage unit catch, too. Talk about "two for the price of one"! |

And One Fan Stopped To Look |

I thought the 261 might have stopped traffic when it passed through Long Lake eastbound for Minneapolis Junction. All that stopped was the SUV you see in the middle background. I wonder if some of the eastbound traffic on Highway 12 was pacing the train, though. |

Goodbye Minneapolis |
Description: |
The westbound fall colors excursion to Willmar has already left Minneapolis behind as the train approaches the venerable pedestrian footbridge which spans the Wayzata Sub and the Cedar Lake Trail. The sun angle resulted in a bit of nose blur on the 261, but otherwise this picture came out great. |
