Mexican Standoff |
Description: |
A westbound BNSF (empty) unit coal train waits at "West Wayzata" for an eastbound blocked by red signals to clear. Another eastbound had been waiting on the main track for the coal train and had just cleared by the time I arrived. Sadly, as I was heading down to catch the eastbound, it started up. And I missed it by a hairs breath. |

Here is a eastbound general freight rolling through Long Lake with SD70MAC 9920 on the point leading three SD40-2s: 6395 (still in modified BN paint) 6801 and 7165 on the point. They are splitting the signals at West Wayzata by the western end of the siding where meets frequently take place here in Long Lake on the Wayzata sub. |

Train U TNDCXP1 26T With A Special Guest |
Description: |
Train U TNDCXP1 26T --a unit oil job-- was stopped by the dispatcher while passing through Long Lake while on its way east. Leading the three units was a celebrity unit--the Norfolk Southern Lackawanna Heritage unit! At last I finally made my first NS Heritage unit catch. I wonder if the motorists on U.S. 12 noted it? (Note: I had hoped to get a photo of the front of the engine, but I had a pressing errand I had to do in Wayzata--I heard a train go through Wayzata during my errand run and when I came back to Long Lake, I saw this train had gone. I still got a decent shot, though.) |

Glowing in the late afternoon sun, BNSF 9988 quietly sits beneath St. Anthony Parkway, waiting out lean times that have seen it stored at Northtown. |

Coal And Water |
Description: |
Here comes an eastbound (loaded) unit coal train with SD70 MAC 9991 on the point. Got the Long Lake water tower into the composition from my perch on the Brown Road bridge. Guess you can say we got coal and water here, now all we need is a steam engine... |
