Back in the late 1990s, when I finally got out of my armchair and into serious railfanning (i.e., no longer just reading train books and magazines and watching movies), Soo Line "bandit" units, ex-Milwaukee Road units hastily patched to reflect their new owner, could still be found aplenty. Alas, they are about to vanish with the scrapping of Soo Line 2010. A unit doomed to such a ignominous end by wiring issues and just plain high mileage. This shot of 2010 is thus my last look at a bandit, because as I write this, she's in the scrap line at Pig's Eye awaiting her fate. |
