JCL Books On The Platform He Once Hung Out On
Title:  JCL Books On The Platform He Once Hung Out On
Description:  I decided to pose the two books I had along with me written by my friend John Luecke in three locations at the former Milwaukee depot, one of his hang outs during his formative years and early adulthood. Here the books are on the picnic table set up for employees of the insurance company that now owns the station.

The CNW And CGW Were Here
Title:  The CNW And CGW Were Here
Description:  I decided to place my CNW cap on the white-painted wood fence that blocks entrance to the CGW grade where it crosses 150th street and take this shot. Trains whose locomotives (and cabooses) bore the "ball and bar" logo stopped rolling through here by 1984, when they moved to the ex-Rock Island "Spine Line."

Here Are My Donations!
Title:  Here Are My Donations!
Description:  I traveled to New Prague to donate some track materials to the Gopher State Railway Museum but just missed everyone, so I left them on this flat bed trailer parked next to the GSRM's pickup truck. Each bag was clearly marked with a note saying "Track Materials Donation To Gopher State Railway Museum." They not only found the stuff but they immediately put it to use on the track they are building for NSP SW1 number 4! Ah it does my heart good to know that these materials I picked up from the roadbed of the Chaska Industrial Lead in downtown Chaska (i.e. the ex-Minneapolis and St. Louis main line) are still being used for rail purposes (and at a site next to the old Tootin' Louie main line south of the Minnesota!)

Complete with Snoopy and Woodstock
Title:  Complete with Snoopy and Woodstock
Description:  SPUD's rennovation would not be complete without a platform that boasts Snoopy and Woodstock! Dig that engineer cap Snoopy's famous pal has on. This is a quite fitting place for the famous beagle: in a kid's speical about the transcontinental railroad, Snoopy drove the Golden Spike!

My way of saying "co-locate!"
Title:  My way of saying "co-locate!"
Description:  This anti-freight rail/light rail co-location sign is currently staked into the ground just north of 21st Street next to the pedestrian path along the Kenilworth Trail. I could not resist putting my engineer cap on it and taking this photo. "Co-locate!" is what my cap says in this pic.

Sun over the Old Milwaukee Road
Title:  Sun over the Old Milwaukee Road
Description:  I love photographing the sun as much as photographing trains and railway-related subjects. This picture combines my two photographic interests into one. The bridge in the distance carries Highway 5 over the old Milwaukee Road Benton Cutoff, which is now operated by regional railroad Twin Cities & Western.

Crossbuck-Shaped
Title:  Crossbuck-Shaped
Description:  Preston, Minnesota's "Trailhead Inn" has this crossbuck-shaped sign out in front. Guests were not to be found this day, since it was the off season. This hotel, incidentally, is located within the footprint of Preston's former Milwaukee Road yard. A restored grain elevator, two pieces of track, and a Milwaukee Road bay window caboose and boxcar are nearby.

Description:  This historical portrait of "The William Crooks" is the one remaining historical railway photo remaining from Bandana Square's days as a shopping mall. It still looks down on the Twin City Model Railroad Museum (bottom right).

I'm A Regular Ted Rose
Title:  I'm A Regular Ted Rose
Description:  I had yet to try out the "sketch" feature on my Olympus Accura on some rail equipment. TC&W 2300 and 2301 fit the bill when I found them at the Hopkins depot today. I am a regular Ted Rose with this setting enabled. :-)

Accidentally Artistic
Title:  Accidentally Artistic
Description:  Fumbling with my camera while getting ready to take this "grab" shot of this eastbound CP ethanol train as it crossed Lyndale Avenue bound for Old Man River and points east, I wound up selecting the "incandescent" setting. Shot is not bad, come to think of it.
